Western Dental Expanding Access to Dental Services as It Implements New Strategy

ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Western Dental, one of the nation’s leaders in accessible, affordable oral healthcare, announced today it has begun a major effort to expand the scope of its dental services.
“Dental services are a critical health care need”
The company, which serves nearly 1 million patients annually in more than 200 affiliated clinics throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Colorado, plans to significantly expand the number of dental hygienists in its offices. The company, already the national leader in orthodontic services, will expand its networks of orthodontists, oral surgeons, pedodontists, periodontists, and endodontists, to better serve patient needs conveniently in the same offices where they get their general dentistry services.
The new effort is part of a broader strategy for Western Dental and its affiliate Brident Dental & Orthodontics as the company works to meet consumer needs today.
“Dental services are a critical health care need,” said Daniel D. Crowley, Chairman of Western Dental and Brident. “Our expanded staff of dental hygienists and networks of specialists will help us to conveniently meet the needs of patients and more fully utilize the resources in our offices. General dentists and hygienists are at the center of our strategy,” he continued. “Around them we are building networks of specialists to provide additional high quality services. We will also offer an array of modern products and therapies that support oral health and aesthetics.”
The company expects to add as many as 25 hygienists by the end of 2015 and will end 2016 with at least 100, Mr. Crowley said.
Mr. Crowley, who has extensive group dental experience and is an experienced large-company executive, joined the Company in July of this year, and he has since brought aboard seasoned champions to lead the hygiene, orthodontics and specialty initiatives.
“There’s a strong new energy and renewed focus on high-quality care and service,” Mr. Crowley said.
To support these initiatives, the company secured additional funding from its owners and executed an amended credit agreement with its lenders.
“Our owner partners have demonstrated their belief and strong commitment to Western Dental and Brident,” Mr. Crowley said. “We appreciate their confidence in our talented team and our strategy as we build one of the largest networks of quality dental care in the United States.”
