Seniors receive free dental care

Senior citizens in the Gwinn area Thursday could get free dental checks thanks to Northern Trails Dental Care. It was the third annual senior day where seniors could get oral cancer screening, comprehensive examinations, and full mouth x-rays. The office puts on the day because healthcare can be expensive and often oral health is compromised which can lead to several other health issues. With an appointment seniors can learn about issues and also learn about resources to get them resolved.
"For us in the office we love this day we have a blast," said Dr. Gwendolyn Buck, dentist and owner of Northern Trails Dental Care. "This kind of gives people a motivation to say, 'Yeah I've been ready for a while and I wanted to do this,' but this is their chance and sometimes just getting their foot in the door finding out that the dental office is not as scary as their memory made it out to be."
Around a dozen seniors took advantage of the free checks and Northern Trails looks forward to doing it again next year.
