Pastor Tim Russell and his daughter of Smiles of Hope stand with Cynthia Ulrich-Blalock, DDS and her husband Richard Blalock, DC in front of the Uhaul trucks full of dental equipment. Dr. Ulrich-Blalock donated over $42,000 worth of dental equipment to the charity.
Dr. Cynthia Ulrich-Blalock, owner and general dentist at Cardinal Dental and former Cape Girardeau native said, "It was such a joy to donate to such a wonderful cause. Dental care is a luxury for many Missourians and I'm happy that the equipment will be put to good use. My staff and I look forward to volunteering at the Smiles of Hope clinic soon to see our donation in action and give back to those in need."
Tim Russell is the founder of Smiles of Hope and pastor of Lighthouse Church in Dexter, MO. "This is by far the largest donation to date," he said. Monthly clinics are held and volunteer dentists provide extractions at drastically reduced cost. While the Smiles of Hope clinics are located in Dexter and Springfield, the program has ties to the St. Louis area. "We have several St. Louis based dentists that drive to the events every month," Pastor Russell said. "The updated equipment will really help grow the ministry and make things more comfortable for the doctors and patients."
A Uhaul truck and trailer were filled to the brim with donations from Cardinal Dental. "Looking back at that day, I'm still speechless that we filled that many Uhauls!" Dr. Blalock said. "I am so blessed to have the opportunity to donate to such a wonderful organization. There will be many people who will be helped with this equipment, and I am thankful to be a part of it."
