Wheeling Health Right to Supply Dental Care

Overall health is directly linked to dental health, however, dental healthcare is something many West Virginians have had to forgo when it's hard to make ends meet.
The Wheeling Health Right has seen that need for dental care and has partnered with local charities to open a brand new dental clinic in 2016.
"It's a one stop shop, this will be the final piece to the puzzle. And in a community that is as wonderful as we have with so much support it's exciting to see this coming together. And it's really just kind of rolled without any involvement just people calling and saying I want to help," said Kathie Brown, the Executive Director of Wheeling Health Right.
Dental assistants, dental hygienists, and dentists are all volunteering, making this a community effort all the way around.
"I'm most excited about the patients that are going to be getting the care they need. I am sure your viewers if they have ever had a cavity, that is a very painful situation and some people are not getting that care," said Dental Volunteer Tammy Graham.
"I think those of us who have dental insurance coverage take it for granted and don't realize that those who need it are in desperate need and they're in pain and they need help, and they need help right away," added Wendy Tronka, a Funding Specialist with Wheeling Health Right and United Way.
This will be one of two on-site dental clinics in West Virginia.
"We get calls everyday that people have a toothache and they need to see a dentist like today and they are just not able to. You just can't call a dentist and get in," said Wheeling Health Right's Executive Secretary Dee Phillips.
