Following on from a highly successful National Health Service audit the team at Ravat & Ray Dental Care in Douglas applied to the British Dental Association for consideration of inclusion in their highly coveted Good Practice Scheme Award.
The practice was visited by an assessor for the BDA scheme on 23rd October. The assessor was most impressed and commented “their team work was an essential part of the practice and it was clear the whole team had worked hard to meet the standards set out by the BDA Good Practice and were committed to providing high quality patient orientated care”.
They also added: ‘The assessor could not find any areas for development and believed Ravat & Ray Dental Care (Douglas) Ltd would make a great addition to BDA Good Practice.’
The team’s hard work has been recognised with the successful accreditation of the Good Practice Scheme Award and this is great news for the residents of the Island as they now have the Island’s first BDA accredited NHS general dental practice on their doorstep!
The practice is currently accepting patients via a waiting list held by the Department of Health at Crookall House please contact them directly to apply to be on the list on 01624 642612.
Since assuming responsibility for patient care on the Hillside site, practice staff have held, in line with the government health improvement agenda, events to provide patients with free oral health advice to help them look after their smile and improve oral health on the Island.
This includes the production of in practice displays and participating in this year’s National Smile Month which took place between 18th May and the 18th June.
Ravat & Ray are keen to work with patients in the delivery of good quality services and oral health improvement messages. The latest campaign is Mouth Cancer Action Month which is a national charity campaign that aims to raise awareness of mouth cancer and make a difference by saving thousands of lives through early detection and prevention. The staff have made a display to provide advice to patients on what to look for in terms of signs and symptoms of mouth cancer, as well as advising patients to seek professional advice if they have any concerns.
The team at Ravat & Ray consists of three experienced dentists; Johann DeLange, Meena Aduma and Joao Corte.
Johann qualified in South Africa in 1984 and has worked in the UK since 1998 in both busy NHS and Private Practices. He has worked on the Island for the past twelve months and looks forward to offering all of his patients a full range of dental services.
Meena qualified in 2006 and has worked in the UK since 2010. She has extensive experience working within both NHS and Private Dentistry. Meena has recently relocated to the Isle of Man, along with her husband and her family.
