Dental Wellness of Westchase collects candy for charity

More than 100 children participated and approximately 300 lbs. of candy were collected at Dr. Amy's Cash-for-Candy, an annual charity Candy Buy Back event held at Dental Wellness of Westchase in Tampa, Fl.

Children received $1 for every pound of candy donated and a new toothbrush at the event held on Nov. 5 by the Tampa dental practice. The cash for candy event is held each year following Halloween. The donated treats will be sent overseas via Operation Gratitude.

Operation Gratitude annually sends more than 150,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas.

Operation Gratitude also encourages the donation of dental items including commercially sealed Lip Balm, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss and travel-size mouthwash.
