Veterans receive free dental care

They risked their lives for our country. Now they're getting care they need.
Monday the Florida Department of Health in Bay County offered free dental care to veterans.
Mobile units were out at the Pediatric Dental Clinic on Highway 98 and Transmitter Road to help with dental care and other health services resulting from lack of dental care.
According to the health department, research has shown bad dental care is linked to diabetes, strokes, respiratory illnesses, and heart and lung disease.
Veterans were screened for medical and dental issues then given a basic cleaning before undergoing any needed procedures.
"We worked with the Baptist church on their stand down day and one of the things we saw was that several veterans needed some kind of ability to get to a dentist," Doug Kent, administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Bay County, said. "This was an opportunity for us to give a day back to the veterans that have given so much to us in America."
