Dental office evacuated after powdery substance scare

A dentist office in Oakland's Chinatown was evacuated after two envelopes containing suspicious looking powdery substances were delivered to its office.
The Oakland Tribune reports (http://bayareane.ws/1m8uGi6 ) Tuesday that the substances were determined Monday morning to be laundry detergent in one envelope and an unidentified but non-toxic substance in the other envelope.
The envelopes were mailed to the office in Chinatown. It was not known who sent them.
The dentist office was evacuated and people in adjacent offices were told to shelter in place, the newspaper reported.
Four dental office employees were examined by paramedics at the scene. They were not injured.
Police say the dentist has also received telephone threats over the telephone last week and Monday. Police continue to investigate.
