EXCLUSIVE: Dental group invests millions in new downtown office

Dr. David Beck said the $2 million his dental practice spent to build a new office at 425 Walnut St. is another indication of downtown’s revitalization.
“This place was so dead when I moved down here people thought I was crazy,” Beck said. “I’ve been here since 2004. I’ve seen the city take off in the last 10 years. It’s an exciting time.”
Last month, Beck Pearce Dental moved from a smaller office in the Carew Tower to a custom-designed space on the second floor of the 27-story U.S. Bank Tower, which is across Fifth Street from Fountain Square.
The new office includes two surgical suites and 17 other dental rooms. The practice, which employs 30 people, includes Beck’s partner, Dr. Troy Pearce, and two associates, Dr. Jim Simpson and Dr. Devin Bateman. The group plans to add an oral surgeon.
Up to eight dental hygienists see patients on weekdays, and each of the four dentists rotates between several rooms in time with the workflow. The practice accepts most insurance and handles all aspects of general dentistry, including surgical extractions, implants, root canals, crowns, cosmetic dentistry, IV sedation, Botox, dermal fillers and pediatrics. For an appointment, call 513-651-0110.
Beck Pearce Dental signed a 10-year lease with U.S. Bank on the 8,000-square-foot space, which the bank had used for continuing education. I previously reported that UC Health launched a medical practice on the same floor of the U.S. Bank Tower, and both offices can be accessed via escalator from the lobby of the Westin Hotel. The skywalk also connects to the floor, which includes offices of the law firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister.
About a half-dozen dental practices operate downtown, and Beck Pearce Dental is one of the largest, Beck said.
The build-out to turn the space leased by Beck Pearce into a dental office cost $1.4 million. Another $600,000 was spent on new specialty equipment, including a $120,000 CT scan for three-dimensional imaging and CO2 lasers, which are used instead of scalpels, Beck said.
