A dental surgery that gives its patients plenty to smile about!
Port Erin Dental Surgery, in Orchard Road, has been nominated in Isle of Man Newspapers’ Pride in Mann Awards, in the Service With a Smile category, by a happy patient.
The nomination states: ‘Every time I attend the practice all of the staff (receptionist, dental nurses and dentists ) are very pleasant, reassuring and friendly.
‘Not often do you get top quality all-round treatment and smile when you go to the dentist.’
Practice manager Linda Dobinson explained that good customer service was a ‘very important part of their job’, saying: ‘Our aim is to give a good first impression of the business with a friendly greeting (smile) and a helpful attitude as well as a lasting good impression.
‘We are trained to be professional at all times, having empathy with our patients and to keep working to improve our standards where required.’
She said the team of 11 staff – which also features three dentists, four nurses, a receptionist and a part-time hygienist and part-time nurse – considered the nomination to be a ‘great honour’.
Linda said: ‘This was a big surprise to us that someone has actually taken the time and effort to nominate us for this award.‘It is nice to get positive feedback as to the nature of the job as this is not always forthcoming.’
The practice has been running for eight years and endeavours to provide the best possible service, friendly as well as professional.
It has been involved with dental charity Dentaid for a number of years and some of the staff have even travelled to Uganda on dental missions giving vital dental work at schools, prisons and churches.
Pride in Mann is an awards scheme sponsored by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company that aims to recognise unsung heroes in the community.
