Newly patented all-natural relaxation system eases dental patient anxiety

Solace Lifesciences Inc. has been awarded a patent for the NuCalm Relaxation System—a four-step, all-natural relaxation technology that can ease dental patient anxiety.
Whether it's spurred by the sound of a drill, the sight of a needle, or simply the unknown, patient anxiety is a common challenge. But easing it shouldn’t have to be.
The NuCalm Relaxation System from Solace Lifesciences Inc. may be a solution for these types of situations. Commercially released in 2010, NuCalm is an all-natural relaxation technology that uses a four-step system to promote stress relief.
Earlier this month, Solace Lifesciences announced a milestone for NuCalm—the acquisition of a patent.*
“This is the world’s only patent granted for ‘Systems and Methods for Balancing and Maintaining the Health of the Human Autonomic Nervous System,’” said James M. Poole, CEO and president of Solace Lifesciences. “It has been a 13-year journey to this point, including eight years of research, discovery, and development, followed by five years of tested, proven real-world use, by dentists, doctors, cancer patients, professional athletes, pilots, and business executives across five continents."
Solace Lifesciences also reported that the system has been used successfully on more than 400,000 dental patients to date. The system is estimated to require approximately three minutes to administer and three to five minutes to take effect.
To use the system, patients must first apply an all-natural cream or chew all-natural dietary supplements. According to David Poole, vice president of marketing and sales for Solace Lifesciences, they contain "a proprietary blend of inhibitory neurotransmitters [primarily amino acids] to slow down the cortisol/adrenaline response and provide the nutrients the body needs to relax." They're also hypoallergenic, sourced from plants, and nonaddictive.
Next, microcurrent stimulation patches are placed behind each of the patient's ears. Then, the patient dons noise-reducing headphones that employ neuroacoustic software to initiate a change in brain waves, bringing them to a pre-sleep state. The final step is a light-blocking eyemask.
"The relaxation impact of NuCalm lasts for the entirety of the experience, whether in the comfort of your home, an airplane, at work, or in a dental chair," said VP Poole. "After NuCalm there is no recuperation time necessary; you return to full lucidity immediately. Most people feel refreshed and restored—relaxed yet focused."
NuCalm can be safely used to relieve anxiety for all patient populations—from pediatric to geriatric. It's also safe to use for patients who have physical or psychological health issues, including cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, addiction, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune diseases, etc.
“We are currently living in the second age of anxiety, the first being just after World War I," said Dr. G. Blake Holloway—NuCalm technology inventor, neuroscientist, and clinician—on receiving the patient. "People are more stressed today than during the Great Depression and [are] not doing enough to manage stress and sleep quality. NuCalm could not have come at a better time to help humanity lower stress and improve sleep quality without drugs.”
